Patrol Supervisor J. Mendoza Receives TPS Life-Saving Award After Rescuing Child

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Last night around 11pm, during a routine property patrol, Patrol Supervisor J. Mendoza of TriStar Protective Services Patrol Division discovered a three-year-old child wandering alone in an apartment parking lot, wearing only night clothes in near-freezing temperatures. Without hesitation, he picked up the child, placed her into his patrol vehicle, and ensured her safety while waiting for Metro Police and Nashville Fire to arrive.

For his quick-thinking, compassion, and direct life-saving actions, we are proud to present Patrol Supervisor J. Mendoza with the TPS Life-Saving Award. His actions may have prevented a tragic outcome, and we are honored to have him as part of our team.

We also recognize Supervisor T. Young and Patrol Officer J. Vancleave with the Outstanding Service Award for their vital role in assisting with the child's care and helping locate the parents. Their dedication and teamwork were instrumental in ensuring a safe resolution.

This is what real security looks like — protecting and serving our communities with integrity and diligence. Join us in congratulating these officers for their outstanding service!

We also extend our gratitude to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and Nashville Fire Department for their swift response and assistance in ensuring the safety of this child.

Additionally, we want to thank our dispatch partner, Echo911, for quickly contacting emergency services while our officers focused on caring for the child.
